The Best Christmas Movies Ever

December 7, 2012

Even though the Christmas season should be a time of joy, peace, and goodwill to all men, it often falls short of those emotions.  City sidewalks and busy sidewalks often disrupt the warm feel of Christmas and replace “merry”  with “moody” or” goodwill to mankind”  with “ill wishes”. So what can we do when we can’t quite catch the spirit during this festive season?  We do what any Christmas elf would do—we listen to local radio stations that play Christmas music all the time, and we watch Hallmark Christmas movies marathon style. Or at least we do these things until the Christmas music gets old since it’s been playing since Halloween and one too many people on the Hallmark channel have found their mail order spouse just in time for Christmas!

However, I do love a good movie any time of the year, and especially at Christmas, so I researched the “ALL TIME BEST CHRISTMAS MOVIES” and found many top ten, top twenty-five, top one hundred lists.  I compiled the movie suggestions that made every list I found.  Here they are in no order or preference:

Elf

It’s a Wonderful Life

A Christmas Carol

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer

Dr. Suess’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas

The Bells of St. Mary’s

Scrooge (1951)

A White Christmas

Christmas in Connecticut (1945)

A Muppet Christmas Carol

A Charlie Brown Christmas

Babes in Toyland (1934)

Miracle on 34th Street

Home Alone 1 and 2

The Santa Clause

And one of my favorites, an oldie but a goodie, it even stars Cary Grant…

The Bishop’s Wife

Why not grab some hot chocolate, watch a good movie, and fill up on some good holiday cheer? City sidewalks, busy sidewalks…dressed in holiday style…in the air there’s a feeling of Christmas.. (sv)

“For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.”
